Shipping & Delivery Policies and Procedures
Shipping Methods & Coverage
Blackwood Cabinets Inc. (“Blackwood”) ships nationwide using trusted freight carriers and regional delivery partners. Orders are shipped FOB origin – title and risk of loss transfer to the dealer once the shipment is released to the carrier.
Freight Estimates & Charges
Freight costs are calculated at the time of order based on weight, dimensions, and destination. Freight estimates are subject to carrier fuel surcharges and rate adjustments. Residential or limited-access deliveries may incur additional fees.
Freight Packaging
Cabinets are packaged individually, whether RTA or assembled, palletized, wrapped, and strapped securely to LTL carrier standards. Each piece of the shipment is weighed and labeled for per carrier requirements and tracking specifications. The corresponding tracking number is emailed to the dealer and available on the dealer portal once the carrier has taken possession of the shipment.
Delivery Scheduling
LTL carriers have a standard 2-5 business day transit time. Please account for one extra day for residential and/or appointment deliveries. Carriers should contact the consignee 24 hours in advance with an estimated delivery window if residential or delivery appointment was selected at time of checkout.. Dealers are responsible for ensuring someone 18 years or older is present to sign for the shipment. Missed appointments may result in a redelivery charge.
Delivery Scope
Standard delivery includes curbside or dock drop-off accessible by a 53’ tractor trailer, and therefore the driver is only responsible for removing the pallet from the truck. Further movement of the pallet, such as inside delivery or first dry threshold services is available upon request for additional fees and must be arranged prior to shipment with the carrier. Drivers are not authorized to unbox, assemble, or enter private residences or job sites.
Inspection at Delivery
Dealers are responsible for ensuring someone 18 years or older is onsite to inspect shipment(s) before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL). Any external visible damage or pallet shortage must be noted on the driver’s BOL copy and acknowledged by the driver, and a copy obtained to submit to Blackwood. Additionally, photos or video should be recorded and submitted with the BOL copy to Blackwood on the dealer portal. Failure to record visible damage on driver’s copy with the freight carrier voids carrier liability.
Refused Deliveries
Blackwood recommends to not refuse shipments, unless it contains an incorrect consignee or incorrect corresponding order IDs, as damages or shortages can be claimed and corrected through Blackwood support departments. Unauthorized refusals will be subject to return freight, handling, and restocking fees. * Concealed shipping damage must be reported to Blackwood within 5 business days of receipt, with supporting photos and itemized description on the dealer portal. Keep all packaging until the claim is resolved.
Missed or Inaccessible Deliveries
If the driver cannot complete delivery due to blocked access, unsafe conditions, or lack of recipient, a redelivery fee up to the original freight charge may apply.
Loss or Delay
Transit times are estimates. Blackwood is not responsible for delays caused by carriers, weather, or other uncontrollable factors. Any claim for carrier loss must be filed within 3 business days of expected delivery.
